On Friday, Israel police requested a third appeal to keep Rav Berland in prison without a trial. After the first two appeals were denied and the Judge condemned the “crooked” behavior of the police, on Friday the appeal case was brought before a third judge who extended the Ravs imprisonment until Monday in order to give the police time to build a case. Thus far the police have failed to bring forth any women to complain against the Rav, after telling the media lies of “number” of women they cannot bring forth even one. Their last chance will be Monday afternoon.
The judge has said on friday that 3 1/2 years was plenty of time to try to build a case against the Rav, if they have no case now then the whole thing should be dropped. He also said that the Rav is not a leader of some kind of criminal organization that he needs to be in administrative detention during the investigation.
Meanwhile the people of Israel are not remaining silent with this injustice, after ten thousand rallied in Chevron on Thursday, hundreds of citizens have come on Saturday night to the support tent which was erected outside the jail in which the Rav is being held. The group “The Nation is with the Tzaddik” has been formed, many have camped out outside the prison and will not leave there until the Rabbi is let out.
